The HOKA MAFATE story
The HOKA MAFATE is an iconic running shoe, known for its distinctive design and its ability to offer exceptional comfort and support on the toughest terrain. It was designed by the HOKA ONE ONE brand, founded in 2009 by running enthusiasts Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard.

The name "MAFATE" refers to the Cirque de Mafate, a mountainous region on Reunion Island with steep, rocky trails. This harsh environment inspired the creators of the HOKA MAFATE to design a shoe that could offer excellent grip and maximum impact protection.

The first version of the HOKA MAFATE was launched in 2010 and quickly became a hit with trail runners and outdoor sports enthusiasts. It already stood out from other running shoes thanks to its thick, cushioned design, which provided incredible cushioning without compromising the shoe's light weight.

Over the years, the HOKA MAFATE has continued to evolve to meet the needs of the most demanding athletes. The latest models incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as the EVA foam midsole, which offers optimum support while reducing pressure on the joints, and flex grooves that improve the shoe's flexibility and responsiveness.

Today, the HOKA MAFATE is considered one of the best running shoes for difficult terrain. It is worn by many professional and amateur athletes around the world, and has won numerous awards and distinctions for its performance and innovative design.
